When you decide to take a long weekend break away  sometimes the hassle of thinking of what to pack takes the pleasure away and some of us may spend 3 days before the trip stressing about what to bring along  – sound familiar?

As with all things it is all  down to the planning and putting a bit of thought into getting the best from your wardrobe so that you can make the most of your city break.

Definitely try  to make hand luggage work for you – nothing worse than hanging around the airport desperately waiting on your suitcase appearing on the carousel.     Check with your airlines as they vary hand luggage size and weight.   All you want to do is get in your hire care, taxi, bus or whatever and begin your holiday.

6 TOP TIPS PACKING FOR A CITY BREAK

  • CHECK OUT THE TEMPERATURES BEFORE YOU GO

There are lots of weather apps around now which are mostly accurate.    I know it is not what everyone is looking for – but if rain is forecast pack your brolley and a ‘mac in a sac’
I recently went to Majorca and unwisely did not bring a raincoat so had to buy a poncho in a beach shop – stylish or what!

  • PLAN YOUR TRAVEL OUTFIT

The best way to wear an outfit for travel is by layering.   The more clothes you wear the less you will have to put in your case.  My suggestion would be vest top, shirt, sweater, jeans and coat (based on weather forecast) and walking shoes.    Comfort is key on a city break.

  • MIX & MATCH

Choose a core colour for your weekend break and then add base/neutral colours to blend together.    I am thinking stone coloured jeans as a base colour and for me personally I would go for lemons and blues as the core colour.  Loving the yellow  tones this season.

  • DAY TO EVENING

Up your game in the evening  staying with your stone coloured jeans or go for floaty trousers and dress up your top half with a strappy top/blouse and jewellery along with strappy sandals and a clutch.

  • MAKE ACCESSORIES WORK FOR YOU

Travel in your basic stud earrings and work your accessories to suit your itinerary by changing to hooped earrings, long necklace, bangle/cuff along with a scarf to complete the WHOLE LOOK.

  • THE TOILETRIES DILEMMA

Try to keep a toilet bag readily prepared for travel – less to think about for you.   Stock up on travel size pots to decant your everyday products.  (100ml max for hand luggage)  Makeup – less is more.  You don’t really need to take everything lurking in your makeup bag – just the essentials.    I couldn’t survive without my lippy!
