TOP TIPS FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS

Hope you are all well.

It is getting to the time of year when we start to think about the better weather and the possibility of heading to the Races for Ladies Day, or maybe invited to a Garden Party or a Wedding.  

Whatever it is you are going to remember it’s all in the planning and it is not too early to start putting some thought into what we are going to wear.    Style doesn’t just happen!

Below are my top tips for you - happy reading and happy styling.

TOP TIPS FOR LADIES DAY AT THE RACES

• Think about the weather and be prepared - you want to have a fun day.   Remember brollies and Wraps/Pashminas
• Most of these race meetings have strict dress code so please see links below.  Imagine being turned away
• Most important - foundation is the starting point of style.  Don't show bra straps, pant lines and a huge tip -  tights are makeup for the legs so don't be afraid to wear them
• Wear something you love, however, think;  IF, WHERE AND WHEN you will wear the outfit again.  Think price per wear
• I know we don't wear hats often but there are occasions that we just have to splash out or, perhaps, a good idea would be to hire a hat for the day
• Shoes - the dreaded shoes. We want to look stylish and feminine, however, we will spend a lot of time on our feet.  If the shoes are brand new break them in gradually at home before venturing out and remember the blister packs.
• Accessories always complete an outfit  and should be worn to suit your individual style and personality
• Most important - back the winners and drink the fizz - oh and don't forget suncream just in case!

TO HAVE FUN

• Dress to suit your own unique style and personality and don't try too hard and begin to feel out of your comfort zone.

TOP TIPS FOR WEDDING GUEST

Fantastic new - you have been invited to a wedding.    I love weddings and haven 't been to one in years.  However, the big question as always is 'WHAT WILL I WEAR'

• A lot of the tips are as the Race Day  - you want to look and feel amazing, although you do not want to feel uncomfortable and outwith your comfort zone
  
• Find out what sort of a wedding it is going to be - upmarket and oh so posh or very relaxed and casual
• Are you invited for the whole event or as an evening guest
• Where is the venue - country house hotel, on a boat, marquee, local pub, abroad
• Again it's all in the planning so shop early and think about where you will shop - don't want someone with the same outfit as you
• If you are attending the whole event try to choose something that will see you through the day and into the evening

COUPLE OF DONT'S

• I personally do not think guests should wear complete white for a wedding
• Try not to wear black and if you do brighten it with bright coloured accessories
