Karen's tips to Look and Feel Good

What's Hot for Autumn/Winter 2019?

It's all in the planning to create your perfect individual style

It’s time to start planning and prepping the autumn/winter wardrobe.   This does not necessarily mean dashing out and buying all the latest trends.

Before you start my top tips are:
  • Shop in your wardrobe first;
  • Then make a shopping list of what you feel is missing;
  • When choosing new items think about how often you will wear them and if you can mix and match these with your existing clothes;
  • Tweeds and checks maybe aren’t your thing.  However, to be on trend simply add a small statement item eg a scarf or a pair of gloves or even a hairband in the fabric. The same applies to other on trend pieces - either go all the way and feel fab or, equally,  introduce more subtle pieces to suit your personality and individuality.

Style Personalities

Do your clothes reflect your true personality and allow it to shine through?  Once you know this you will look and feel amazing, boosting your confidence and self-esteem.

Which style personality are you, I wonder?    This is where I (as an Image Consultant) can help you choose and wear the clothes which are ideally suited to you as an individual, taking into account your lifestyle and budget, without being a fast follower of fashion.   www.karendeggimageconsultant.co.uk

These are just a few of the common style personalities which could app;y to you:-
  • Classic
  • Feminine
  • Funky
  • Dramatic
  • Sporty
There are other style categories which might best reflect your personality and preferences - I would love to help you explore which is the right one for you.

What's new - and how can we make it work for you
Over the next few days/weeks I will be posting on Facebook (www.facebook.com/karendeggimageconsultancy) and Instagram (karendeggimageconsultant) different ways to wear some of these new trends with hints and tips along the way.

TWEEDS AND CHECKS
Yes, we are seeing tweeds, checks and plaids - houndstooth, gingham, tartan to name but a few.    I have been shopping around doing my research and seeing trouser suits, jackets, skirts, dresses, shoes, bags – you name it and it’s there.

DRESSES

We are seeing lots of florals and so many shirt dresses with belts as well as tunic and dresses with a fitted-waist.  Many of the dresses are coming in at midi length – which may or may not suit your shape.  Again, I can help you with this dilemma.

TOPS

Lots of crocheted, chiffon and lace tops in the shops just now.    Very detailed sleeves, shoulders, necklines, cuffs etc – very fussy.   Do you like big bows and ruffles?  You would need to really play down the trousers, culottes or skirts to create the perfect effect of these sometimes flamboyant top halves.

SKIRTS

Wearing a Pencil Line or A-Line Skirt with one of the above tops would look fab, with belts to help balance out the proportions as well as creating a waist.     Don’t shy away from belts they can be a stylish and flattering accessory if you choose the correct belt and wear it to suit your body shape.

Seeing floaty pleated skirts in lovely pastel shades as well as metallics.

CAPES

The Cape is back in block colours, patterned, checks with lots of vibrant colours as well as muted shades to suit the individual.  Do love a cape – you can make these so chic by adding an accessory or two eg gloves/hats.   Such a versatile seasonal piece!

WIDE LEG TROUSERS/CULOTTES
I am seeing a lot of wide leg trousers that are high waisted and coming with pockets.

 FOOTWEAR

Noticing some fab bright colours to help cheer us up through the autumn/winter days.    Knee length boots are a must – even above the knee.       I am loving these white ankle boots too.

HOSIERY

The tights are having fun with sparkly, lace, spotted, patterned, colourful and bold.

HAIRBANDS/ALICE BANDS

Loving this look which has been made very popular due to Kate Middleton wearing recently.    I always think there is something very feminine and girly about a headband/alice band.

BUMBAG/BELT BAG

Never thought I would see these bags re-appear and aren't they just fab.    Great colours too.
